September 18, 2016: Last Day working at General Mills.

Before now, my present self only existed to serve my future self: I studied hard in high school to attend a great college; I recruited hard in college to find a stable career; I worked hard at my career to earn a comfortable living. And through comfortable living, I enjoyed the pleasant perks of routine – coffee, a few bowls of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reddit, meetings, excel macros, Reddit, happy hour, repeat.

Then, through a series of ordinary yet transformational events that I’ll spare readers the details and easily sum up as a millennial’s quarter life crisis, I realized that this comfortable life I’ve settled into was not a particularly examined one.

So Quarter Life is a digital journal documenting this period of exploration and indulgence in curiosity, living fully in the present with no safety net beyond what I have in my savings account and the support of my family and friends. Admittedly, Quarter Life also provides me a social pressure to stay disciplined in this intermission and evidence of fruitful productivity.

Qualifier: I started this site a little over a month after I quit – it would be dull to document those weeks I spent in recovery, which I can easily sum up as rewatching Gilmore Girls and playing Tetris with Friends (I am embarrassed to say I made it to level Genius).
